High Power Surface Mount LED (SMB Series and BL Series)

The SMB series has one or two 1.0 x 1.0 mm chips mounted on a copper heat sink in a 5 x 5 mm package. The BL series has a single 1.0 x 1.0 mm chip mounted on copper heat sink in a 7-mm-diameter round package. Both packages can be molded with a super beam lens on top. The SMB and BL series are designed to be used with proper heat sinking to improve thermal conductive efficiency. The lens viewing angle options include +/- 7, 12, 33, and 57 degree half view angles. An oval lens of +/- 48 degrees on long and +/- 27 degrees on short diameters is also available for SMB.

Standard wavelengths offered in SMB and BL series range from 470 nm to 940 nm.

The SMB series can be made with a ceramic plate between the LED chip (chips) and the copper heat sink inside the SMB package. This type of SMB has a -I at the end of its part number. The SMB series can also be made without a ceramic plate between the LED chip (chips) and the copper heat sink. This type does not have a -I at the end of its part number. Which one to use depends on your application and the layout of the SMB in your design. The BL series does not have a ceramic plate inside its package and instead has the LED chip attached directly to the copper heat sink.

SMB Series

Product numbering:"SMB" + Wavelength + Number of chips used + 100 + Lens type + I

	example:
	SMB940-1100-03-I:	SMB with peak wavelength at 940 nm. It has 1 LED chip and comes with 03 type over-molded lens (+/- 12 degree half viewing angle) and a ceramic plate between the chip and the copper heat sink inside the package.
	SMB850D-2100:	SMB with peak wavelength at 850 nm. It has 2 LED chips and comes with no over-molded lens (flat surface with +/- 55 degree half viewing angle). The LED chips are directly placed on the copper heat sink.

BL Series
