LED Chips

MARUBENI Tech-LED offers its customers a variety of Known-Good-Die  (KGD™)  which are 100% inspected & tested prepackaged compound  semiconductor LED or Optical Sensor dice. Each die has undergone rigorous visual  inspection for die and metallization integrity, as well as electrical and optical testing.  Each die is then sorted based on test values that ensure that they will  perform per specifications if packaged properly. They are supplied with all data and  labeling on sticky tape for proper presentation to die automatic or manual pick and place machine collets.

MARUBENI Tech-LED utilizes the latest die fab technologies including metallization, dicing, testing and presentation for pick-and-place hoop stretching, to ensure each and every die is not only KGD™, but presented in a useable format for our customers. Let us know your die requirements so we can work to fulfill your product requirements. Make your inquiry to MARUBENI Tech-LED today.

Full-Spectrum LED Chips from 365 nm UV to 1900 nm IR

Tech-LED (Marubeni) offers a comprehensive range of LED chips spanning the ultraviolet, visible, and infrared spectra. Our LED chips cover wavelengths from 365 nm (UVA) through the visible spectrum and into short-wave infrared up to 1900 nm. This broad spectral coverage means you can find a precise emitter for virtually any application, whether it’s a 365 nm UV LED for fluorescence excitation or a 1550 nm IR LED for optical sensing. Each chip delivers high radiometric output and is engineered for efficiency and stability, ensuring reliable performance over a long lifetime.

    Broad wavelength coverage

All key wavelengths from 365 nm to 1900 nm are available, including UVA, visible colors, near-infrared (700–950 nm) and SWIR bands (1050–1750 nm).

    High power output

Our high-power LED chips (e.g. 1 mm2 emitters in 5 mm x 5 mm packages) deliver industry-leading radiant flux for demanding applications.

    Narrow viewing angles

Options for built-in lens packages provide focused beams (as tight as ±10°) for long-range illumination and sensing.

    Multi-chip integration

Single packages can combine multiple LED dies (up to 5 or more chips) either to increase total output or to emit multiple wavelengths from one device.

    Compact packaging

Ultra-small chip-scale packages (as small as 0603 SMD) and low-profile designs allow easy integration into space-constrained devices.

    Custom solutions

We offer custom wavelength bins and packaging – including chip-on-board (COB), integrated photodiodes, and specialty optics – to meet unique project requirements.

    Innovative Packaging and Multi-Wavelength Technology

Our LED chips are available in a variety of package families optimized for different needs. For example, surface-mount packages like our ceramic SMBB (5.0 x 5.0 mm) include an integral copper heat sink to support a 1 mm2 high-power die, enabling excellent thermal management for high-current operation. We also provide mid-size SMD LEDs (e.g. 3.5 x 3.5 mm and 3.5 x 2.8 mm formats) and ultra-compact LEDs below 1 mm in size for maximum design flexibility. Many of these emitters feature molded lenses available in different beam angles – from narrow spotlights to wide floodlighting – so you can tailor the light distribution to your application.

Tech-LED’s engineering expertise also allows multiple chips to be integrated into one package. Our multi-wavelength LED devices can house LEDs of different peak wavelengths under a single lens or window, producing a broad combined spectrum or discrete switchable wavelengths. This multi-chip approach is ideal for applications like spectroscopy or complex sensing, where, for example, one might integrate UV, visible, and NIR chips together to detect a range of material properties. Additionally, multi-chip arrays can achieve higher total radiant flux by driving several die in unison – useful for illumination systems that require intensities beyond the capability of a single LED chip.

Our packaging technology extends to chip-on-board assemblies and even hybrid modules that incorporate photodiodes alongside LEDs. For instance, we can integrate an infrared LED alongside a matching photodiode in the same package for reflective sensing, or place a UV LED next to a photodiode to create a compact fluorescence sensor. These innovative package options and our custom assembly services ensure that you get not only the right wavelength, but also the optimal light output pattern and integration format for your design.

    Versatile Applications Across Industries

With such a wide selection of wavelengths and package configurations, Tech-LED’s chips are powering innovation in numerous fields. Here are some of the real-world applications enabled by our LED chips:

    Optical food sorting

NIR and SWIR LED chips (e.g. 1200 nm, 1450 nm) help detect starch, protein, sugar, and water content in grains, nuts, and produce. Food processing machines use these LEDs to identify and sort items by quality, ripeness, or contamination (such as detecting mycotoxins via UV-induced fluorescence).

    Smart agriculture

Our rugged LEDs support precision agriculture by monitoring soil conditions and crops. UV and visible LEDs can highlight pest infestations or plant stress, while NIR LEDs gauge parameters like chlorophyll content or moisture levels in leaves and soil. This leads to better crop inspection and targeted use of fertilizers and pesticides.

    Machine vision & automation

High-power infrared LED chips (730–950 nm) serve as illuminators in machine vision systems for factories. They provide the lighting needed for cameras to inspect products, read barcodes, check fill levels in packaging, or detect defects on assembly lines. In semiconductor manufacturing, specialized IR/SWIR LED chips allow inspection of silicon wafers and solar panels by transmitting through silicon or highlighting micro-cracks.

    Vital signs & medical monitoring

Tech-LED’s near-infrared chips (e.g. 940 nm and 1300 nm) are used in medical and wellness devices. Common examples include pulse oximetry sensors (combining a 940 nm IR LED with a red LED to measure SpO2) and emerging noninvasive glucose monitors that use SWIR wavelengths around 1600 nm to detect blood glucose levels. Our LEDs also enable photobiomodulation therapy and other medical applications where specific IR wavelengths stimulate biological effects.

    Security & surveillance

Infrared LED chips in the 810–880 nm range are integrated into night-vision cameras and ANPR systems (automatic number plate recognition). These high-efficiency IR emitters invisibly illuminate large areas or distant objects, allowing security cameras to capture clear images in darkness. From license plate recognition at toll booths to facial recognition access control, our IR/NIR LEDs provide the illumination backbone for modern security imaging.

Across these and many other industries – from environmental sensing to scientific instrumentation – Tech-LED’s broad portfolio of LED chips delivers the exact wavelength and performance needed. By offering proven reliability and customization options, we empower engineers and researchers to push the boundaries of what’s possible with light-based technologies.
